    Instructor Description:

    This lesson can help students deepen their awareness of listening skills. It covers the departmental student learning outcome of listening carefully and with meaningful critical thinking standards. It is also a great way for students to get to know each other and practice their interpersonal communication skills.

      Start with a discussion about listening. Questions to ask: What do we use to listen? Lead them to the answer of our entire body and all of our senses. What is the difference between listening and hearing? What are some things that get in the way of listening? Discuss the different types of listening covered in the reading: comprehensive listening, empathetic listening, appreciative listening, and critical listening.
