Assessing Bias in the News

Visit AllSides https://www.allsides.com/unbiased-balanced-news and select a story that interests you. Compare and contrast the right, center, and left viewpoints under “Featured Coverage of this Story” (you will have to scroll down). Click on each article to read the full text.

Consider each of the following:

Who wrote the source? Who owns/produces the source?
Who advertises in the source? Are the advertisements appropriate for the source?
Is there a political slant in the content?
Does the content contain all the facts or at least present both sides of an argument fairly?
What type of language is being used? Does the author use strong language or hyperbole?
Do they back up their argument with factual evidence? Can you see where they got their evidence through links or citations?

Write a short reflection on this assignment, using complete sentences and proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Your reflection should be no more than 250 words.
