    Information Overload Think/Pair/Share

    Have students discuss their information overload experiences and responses to those experiences in small groups; with the whole group, see what students have in common, and if anyone has tips to share. Discuss experiences, responses, and strategies to control information intake and reduce information overload and anxiety such as:

    • Being thoughtful about the type, purpose, and quantity of information you engage with
    • Put digital tools to work for you with note-taking apps, cloud storage, and citation matrices or citation management tools
    • Brain dumping: write down thoughts and information to clarify, prioritize, and clear your mind
    • Focusing on one task at a time, taking care to minimize distractions
    • Taking information breaks to refresh and refocus
