    Activity

Use this activity to help working on honing your creative writing skills. So to get started, I would like everyone to submit a piece of flash fiction. Flash fiction is defined as fiction that is less than 2000 words, but for this week's purpose, you will work under the constraints of 750 words. You will notice that the fiction we write for all these activities are technically flash fiction because it will stay under 2000 words. When you receive writing prompts, use them to practice certain skills. You can always go back to that writing later if it caught your attention and expand on it. You can also change the form later.

    Writing Prompt

Write a scene in which the main character finds something and has a reaction. This means you will choose your character, choose the object, and choose the reaction.

    Further directions:

Once you have written your scene, please upload it to the Brightspace folder.

    • Make sure your scene is evenly double-spaced.
    • Create a Title for your scene.
    • Please use a standard font.
    • 750/words
    • Check grammar

    Purposeful/Rhetorical Grammar and Writing Fluency

Grammar, punctuation, and coherence are all nuanced and excellently used to tell the story and reveal the characters.

Grammar, punctuation, and coherence are adequately used to tell the story and reveal the characters.

Grammar, punctuation, and coherence are not used effectively to tell the story and reveal the characters. Writing interferes with readability.

There are several grammar, punctuation, and coherence issues throughout that make it difficult to read the story and reveal the characters.
