The supplemental basic info sheet gives some background information for students. The reading is the Congressional Quarterly 2020 report “Universal Basic Income,” by Lorna Collier. The activity is a debate in which students must argue both for and against implementation of UBI, regardless of their personal opinions. The supplemental classroom atmosphere exercise helps to establish a supportive classroom environment for exploring multiple viewpoints. The reading and debate, ideally supplemented by additional articles, lead to an essay assignment.
