What would that look and sound like? Who are your peers? What are some of their defining characteristics?
In a small group or individually, plan on writing a two-page anti-war speech about a current war or social crisis, to an audience of your peers, that you could deliver to an audience of your peers.
What does that look like? How do you address the audience? What concerns might be at the forefront of this war/conflict/crisis? How does or could this conflict affect you and your peers (As Tupac put it "They got money for wars/but can't feed the poor")? How can you address that in your speech? Does your audience have any role in this conflict? Could, for example, their college or school have stocks in a weapons manufacturer or is it invested in one of the sides? Could your audience play a role in affecting the war? What kinds of actions could they take?
What kinds of signifiers would you use to identify your audience? What can they do? Would it make sense to put some or all of the responsibility for the conflict/crisis on your peers? Can they do something about it? How will your speech or essay address that?
Now that you have a framework, draft the essay or speech. Is there somewhere you can deliver this essay or speech? As a long-form or a series of videos, on a stream, in your quad, during an anti-war protest? Think of this beyond your classroom.
