    Departmental Student Learning Outcomes:

    Use critical thinking skills to analyze audiences and situations so as to be able to generate clear and appropriate messages in informative and persuasive speaking.

    Identify cultural and gender differences.

    By recognizing and speaking about our own identities, we can learn to appreciate other’s identities. This is an important skill that can help a public speaker understand the audience that they will be speaking to. It helps the speaker relate to the audience and better tailor their message to the group of people that will receive it. We also learn to recognize and celebrate the diversity around us.
