- This chapter focuses on what a logical fallacy and why they make an argument weak. Students will also learn how to identify logical fallacies in advertisements. Students will also write their own logical fallacies in order to better understand their structure and how to identify them. Students will then attempt to identify logical fallacies in a sample text and how these could be remedied.
- 9: Analyzing a Text for a Rhetorical Analysis Paper by Angelica Davila
- Students will critically read a text to evaluate rhetorical strategies used by the author in order to connect it to the writing of a Rhetorical Analysis. Students will be asked to determine whether they think that the author of the article effectively conveyed their message or not. They will be asked to support their answer to this question.
- 10: Structure of a Rhetorical Analysis Paper by Angelica Davila
- Students will engage with a sample rhetorical analysis paper in order to understand the structure and form of this writing genre. Students will also complete a reverse outline in order to identify the different components of a rhetorical analysis.

- Students will learn the structure of a thesis statement and how to write one for a rhetorical analysis. They will also learn to identify and evaluate thesis statements. Additionally, students will be asked to write their own thesis statement.
