Tell Them We Are Rising, Directed by Stanley Nelson explores unapologetic Blackness and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's). For more than 150 years, HBCU's have been a haven for Black intellectuals, artists and revolutionaries, and path of promise toward the American dream. Black colleges and universities have educated the architects of freedom movements and cultivated leaders in every field.
After reading this module's articles and viewing Tell Them We Are Rising, students will make two discussion posts: 1) Respond to the following prompt(s): What are some of the historical and current challenges to education for people of African descent in America? Identify and discuss a movement(s), and/or ways that individuals and groups have challenged and pushed back the barriers to obtaining an education in America. 2) you will respond to a classmate's post (minimum 75 words). Discussions grading rubric is attached.
