That's all I got
I hope this guidebook will be useful to you. Again, I encourage you to go through this guidebook as a companion from the moment you are assigned an essay prompt and as you plan and write your paper. If I can provide a simple snapshot of what the whole process looks like from beginning to end, it would be something like this:
- understand the prompt
- find evidence and content from appropriate materials that address the question ot task asked on the prompt
- think of ideas and opinions based on that content and evidence (1 idea=1 body paragraph)
- start organizing these ideas and information into an outline that prioritizes your body paragraphs
- compose a thesis statement that works as an overall argument that each idea you want to develop will support
- develop analysis for each idea, include it in your outline
- use your outline to compose body paragraphs; topic sentence, example/evidence, analysis
- write intro and conclusion (include thesis statement as the last sentence of the introduction)
I encourage you to write your essays step by step, looking over this guidebook frequently for direction. Also, working with tutors and using information available to you online, including videos, etc. is a great way to gain control and understanding of the essay writing process There is a wealth of resources available that can help you write academic papers, so long as you take the time to understand how they are trying to instruct you and what the terminology they are using means. It can take time and a willingness to review the same things over and over, but once it all clicks, you will be surprised at how approachable your assigned essays can be.
