Not only does tener have stem changes inside the boot, but it also has an irregular YO form!
¨Tener que¨ is used to talk about:
- things you need / have to do
- to give advice/suggestions/recommendations
The verb tener is conjugated in the forms we saw above, but now it is followed by que + a verb in the infinitive.
Remember that infinitives end in -AR, -ER, or -IR in Spanish. They have not been conjugated.
Follow this model: Tener + que + a verb in the infinitive
Modelo:
- Tienes que hablar más español con tus amigos.
- Tengo que estudiar en la biblioteca.
- Ellos tienen que trabajar los lunes.
- ¿Qué tienes que hacer hoy?
