As a college student, you are expected to communicate with your professors and other campus professionals. You will need to use Butler communication tools rather than using your personal email to do this.

    Canvas

Canvas has a built-in email tool that is easy to use.  You should check your Canvas email at least twice a day and respond to any messages from your professors.    You can also send messages to them easily through Canvas.    To learn how to do so, see the “Essential Butler Tools for You” chapter at the beginning of this book.  The Canvas Student app is by far the easiest way to notice, access, and send email.   Be sure to download it and set its Notifications as explained also in that section.

    Outlook

Outlook email is part of the Microsoft 365 package that is free to you as a Butler college student. College offices, such as Financial Aid and Advising, use Outlook to communicate with students. Be sure to check your Outlook email often and to use it to communicate with professors and other college personnel.   For information about how to load and use this see the “Essential Butler Tools for You” chapter.

    AVISO

AVISO is a communication tool used at Butler which enables additional communication between you, your professors, and other college professionals.  The easiest way to use AVISO is to download the AVISO Student app.   Some professors have you use the app to mark your inclass attendance.
