    Student Learning Objectives

    By the end of the course, the students should develop:

    1.     The ability to communicate at an intermediate level of Spanish.

    2.     Intermediate proficiency in reading and writing in the language.

    3.     Ability to interpret and discuss literature and film at an intermediate level.

    4.     Knowledge of significant cultural and historical events.

    5.     Ability to use technology for oral and written practice, and to research selected topics in Spanish.

    Prerequisite: SPAN 102 or 3 years of high school Spanish. Advisory: ENGL 514. SPAN 103 is designed for intermediate Spanish speakers, entirely taught in Spanish, and therefore ideal for Heritage Speakers, and/or native Spanish-speakers wishing to improve reading and writing literacy. SPAN 103 covers vocabulary and grammar with an emphasis on listening/oral, reading, and writing skills at the intermediate level. This course also includes cultural components of the Spanish-speaking world.
