    Learning Objectives

    1. Become familiar with a variety of distribution outlets for video content.

    2. Learn how to define your target audience demographics.

    3. Gain an understanding of different methods used in single-camera and multi-camera video productions.

    • 1.1: Determining Your Distribution Outlet
So you want to make a video?  Who is going to watch it and why?  Development is the first phase of production, and includes defining your idea and determining who your target audience is
    • 1.2: Understanding Your Audience
Understanding your audience helps to determine how to produce your video.  If you are producing client-based videos you need to have a solid understanding of the marketing or personal needs of your client.  If you are creating content for online distribution, it's important to understand how people use and engage with media on different platforms.  When you're telling a story, whether it's narrative or documentary based, make sure you know who your story will resonate with.
    • 1.3: Production Styles
Different types of production call for different styles of production.  Live events require the ability to capture multiple camera angles and present all video feeds, graphics and audio feeds to an audience in real-time.  Short films, documentaries, and client-based videos are often produced with a single camera, the story comes together in post-production before it ever reaches an audience.
