Selecting a stage manager is one of the most important decisions you will make. The stage manager is your go to person who not only manages the cast and crew, but who will take over and run the show after opening. A good stage manager is organized, responsible, can handle pressure, and has excellent people skills. Like all good managers, a stage manager should know how to communicate with others and be able to navigate different personality types without threatening or becoming a tyrant. Stage management is the hardest and most thankless job in theater, so make sure your stage manager receives support and respect.
