En un día típico, yo ayudaba a mi madre en la casa y a mi padre afuera. En la casa, aspiraba los suelos, barría el piso de la cocina, limpiaba los baños, sacudía los muebles y hacía pan porque cocinábamos todo en casa porque mi padre tenía alergia al huevo.
Afuera, detrás de la casa, mi padre tenía un huerto de vegetales y casi todos los días yo le ayudaba a arrancar las malas hierbas y a regar las plantas. En frente de la casa, yo cortaba y regaba el césped. En el garaje, yo hacía carpintería con mi padre. Casi siempre construíamos estanterías para todos los libros que acumulábamos. Teníamos estanterías por toda la casa y en el garaje del piso al techo a lo largo de toda una pared. También hacíamos nuestros propios embutidos y los colgábamos de las vigas en el garaje.
