It is a very useful expression that takes on different meanings depending on the interrogative pronoun you place after it :

N'importe quoi ! is a very common thing to say. Depending on the context, it could mean anything, nonsense, whatever:
Il fera tout et n’importe quoi. (He’ll do anything and everything.)
Tu dis n’importe quoi ! (You’re talking nonsense/rubbish!)
Other expressions with the verb importer include:
Qu’importe ! (Who cares !)
Peu importe. (It doen’t really matter.)
