    What is style?

    We have already discussed some important common features of academic writing. A writer’s style is what sets their individual writing apart, like the heirloom beans in Figure 6.9.1. Style has to do with the choices a writer makes to engage their reader. It is the way writing is dressed up (or down) to fit its specific context, purpose, content, and audience.
