In the following activity, write a question beginning with 'Have you ever + past participle of the verb' to ask your partner. You will then have the opportunity to ask your partner the questions and have a short conversation about each. The first one is done for you:
1. eat sushi → Have you ever eaten sushi?
2. find money in the street
3. write a poem
4. be in love
5. see a great movie
6. go to Los Angeles
7. sing in front of other people
8. ride a motorcycle
9. live in a different state in the U.S.
After you finish writing your questions, check your answers below:
1. Have you ever eaten sushi?
2. Have you ever found money in the street?
3. Have you ever written a poem?
4. Have you ever been in love?
5. Have you ever seen a great movie?
6. Have you ever gone to Los Angeles?
7. Have you ever sung in front of other people?
8. Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?
9. Have you ever lived in another state in the U.S.?
Work with a partner. Take turns asking each other the questions. If your partner says 'yes, I have', ask them a few more related questions to keep the conversation going. Pay attention to using the correct verb tenses in your questions and answer.
For example:
A: Have you ever eaten sushi?
B: Yes, I have.
A: Did you like it? / When did you last eat sushi?/ Where did you eat sushi?/ How often do you eat sushi?
