    Learning Objectives

    After completing Chapter 3, students will be able to

    1. Read and analyze the main ideas and details of a chapter from a history textbook about the Great Northward Migration.
    2. Practice reading strategies for challenging academic texts such as pre-reading, skimming, and summarizing.
    3. Build vocabulary in the domain of African-American history.
    4. Analyze main ideas and details of an adapted sidebar from a sociology textbook about culture shock.
    5. Use vocabulary to discuss personal experiences of culture shock.
    6. Identify past tense verbs.
    7. Identify adverbs and their meaning.
    8. Use comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs to describe a place.
