Note: 别听他的means “Don’t listen to him.” 挺 means “very, quite.” It is often used in informal conversations. 的 often occurs at the end of the sentence. 数理化 is an abbreviation of 数学、物理、化学, and refers to scientific subjects in Chinese. 不用means “don’t need to.” It is the negative counterpart of 得 (děi, need to/must/have to). |

Note: 对我来说 means “to me.” Note that it occurs only at the beginning of sentences. 别着急，慢慢来literally means “Don’t worry. Go slow.” It is the common way to comfort people, as in “No rush. Take your time.” |
